Winter Blues

Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow Sunday morning at Gobbler's Knob in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, meaning six more weeks of winter.  This little rodent has been predicting if winter will extend for six more weeks for 101 years but according to National Climatic Data Center, Phil is not very reliable and has been wrong most of the time.  I'm not sure how a groundhog was picked as a weather predictor.
A week and a half ago we had a huge snow storm, dumped about 10 inches over central New Jersey.  This was my ride home.

I got home, put on a hat and my dirt bike goggles and proceeded to spend 2 hours outside in the falling snow and freezing conditions cleaning the cars and the driveway.  Easier to clean while it's still fresh then wait till the next day and have not only more to clean but most likely frozen snow too.

The entire last week the temperature stayed below freezing going as low as 3 degrees Fahrenheit. The weekend arrives and the temperature jumps to the mid 40's on Saturday and mid 50's on Sunday.  I quickly took my bike out of hibernation and prepared for a little ride on Sunday.
Rode mostly in South Jersey doing a little over 100 miles.   Sunday was Superbowl Sunday and most people were probably attending parties, there was hardly anyone on the road.   Rode around a lake in Pemberton, the lake is completely frozen.

Today I went to work with another snowstorm on the way and by the time I arrived at work it was snowing badly.  The weathermen were predicting 6 or more inches of snow, I left work at 12:30 and headed home, took me almost 2 hours to get home.

Now they predicting 4 to 6 inches on Wednesday and then another snowstorm for the weekend.  I'm so tired of this weather, I want to move to where the average is always in the 60's or above.  I'm hoping to move to Florida within a couple of years.
Oh, if anyone has a shotgun, help me shoot the damn rodent that predicted 6 more weeks of winter.

  2. The snow should give you plenty of time to work on some old projects. ;)

  3. You can come to San Diego George! Fatima would love it and it's really year-round riding here. This is the only place I want to be right now. I love traveling, but not in the elements. Aside from not being able to wear dresses and heels, I can really ride my bike everywhere I want to go. I even attend business mixers and networking events on my motorcycle. It sorta brands me as "that chick who rode the motorcycle here!" Ha ha!
Come to San Diego. You two would really love it. Bring the whole family! Nice colleges here too. . .

    1. I wish I could, probably the best place in the country to be now. The only other place would be Florida which is where my brother is now. College bills from my son are messing things up financially right now otherwise I would jump on a plane right now :-(

  4. George:

We get cold, down to around zero normally but we have some snow forecast for Sunday, which is rare for us. We like to keep our snow in the East. Hurry up and get to Florida, then we have a place to visit

    1. Bob, you have no idea how nice that would be for me to already be in Florida, you can come visit anytime when I'm there.

  6. Geaorge, seeing pictures like that make me thankful I live in Texas. We whine when it dips below 40 and rains--I don't think most Texans could handle weather like that. Don't over do it shoveling all that snow. :-)

    1. I'm so envious of the weather in Texas and Florida. I would like to move south and I think I will after my daughter goes to college. I'm thinking Florida first (been there lots of times) but I would like to visit the Texas coast, I have been to Houston on a business trip but never saw the coast.
