27 Years

Today I celebrate 27 years of marriage to a beautiful woman, a wonderful mother and the best partner for my adventures I could ever wish for.

I dragged her out of South Africa, her birth country, at the end of our first year of marriage when we moved to the US and we never looked back. We have endured together through bad and good times, we have traveled through life together and have shared lots of adventures.  In recent times I have taken to motorcycle adventures and she has supported me all along.  In the last couple of years I have seen lots of beautiful places on my motorcycles and we have taken a few short trips together.  For 2011 I am planning a longer trip and this time we will go together on my new bike but I hope she will soon get her license so we can partake in future motorcycle adventures together on our own motorcycles.

She is a “Mother Teresa” to all the animals, we have 5 pets and a pond full of fish in our house.  She has lots of patience for me and the kids and is also the best cook in the world.

Happy Anniversary to you darling.

  1. Wishing my darling husband a very happy anniversary. I must brag that its not everyday you get to be this lucky. This year I have promised to start a new chapter in our adventure together. I will get my motorcycle license and my very own bike in the Spring, so that I may follow him in all his great adventures. Wish me luck. Once again hon, a toast to our 27th year.

  2. Congrats to you both!

But,... how is it possible? Neither one of you looks old enough to be married 27 years!!

Wishing you many more happy years together. And good luck on the license!

  3. Congratulations to you both. 27 years is very good, but come on George, you have waited too long for your wife to get her license. Here is to the next 27 years!

  4. Congrats to you both and wishing you many more years to come. A license is a good start, and maybe the desire to ride her own will come with time (I am working on my hubby for over a year now, license he got, but he doesn't ride just yet).
All the best and enjoy your anniversary!

how is it possible? She was 18 and I was 23 when we married :-) We were two kids, and we dated for 2 years, now that I think about, she was 16 when we started dating ;-) wow

    Gary:
I have been trying to convince her but she must want to do it :-) Yea, I will be 77 at the end of the next 27 years :-0

    Sonja:
That's the problem, they must have the desire, not because we think they should be riding ;-) I thought your hubby rode with you, what's he waiting for? ;-)

  8. Lori:
Thanks. If she gets her license do you think should could take the "Tail of the Dragon" before the end of the year? ;-)

    Kari:
Thanks. She likes to go with me but we have a 14 year old daughter, we can't leave her alone, she also wants me to take her, that's going to be a problem :-)
If my wife gets a bike, my daughter can go with me.

  11. Congrats to the both of you! Having celebrated 30 years of wedded bliss ourselves, I have to say... way to go! (we were 19 and 20)

Double congrats on the new license and bike this Spring. It's been absolutely fabulous for the two of us since I've become a rider. He can enjoy the freedom of riding without a passenger, but still have a pleasure of my company. (hmmmm... at least I hope so!) :)

Looking forward to reading about it... ride safe... ride on!

Congratulations to the both of you too and I thought I was young at 23 ;-)
Of course he enjoys your company, as you have said it's so much better to ride without a passenger, but not alone :-)

  13. YES!! She can do "Tail of the Dragon" by the end of the year. Just let her ride her speed! And run it south to north! ;) And let me know! We'll come to record it!

  14. Congratulations! My wife loves riding with me, too, but I haven't been able to get her anywhere near riding her own machine. Maybe some day... I wish you many, many more, and hope for the same luck.

  15. George & Fats:

congratulations and also looking forward to her own adventures after she gets her licence. I hope the "Tail of the Dragon" isn't too technical for a new rider. Take it slow and easy. It is more fun to ride slow . . . it lasts longer that way.

And I also agree that you both look too young to have been together for that long.

Last time I went there I rode it 3 times on the same day :-) in the rain in the morning from South/North and then I went back in the afternoon (6pm) and did it again by myself south/north and then turned around and did N/S back to Robbinsville where we were staying. It was so much fun at that time, road was empty :-)

    Brady:
    Than you.

    Bob:
I was being sarcastic about taking her to the TOD ;-) I will be lucky is she goes around Jackson with me :-)
Too young? I just turned 50 last month :-) Thank you.
